Fire Sermon, by Jamie Quatro.
I went into this book expecting one thing and received something completely opposite. Reading it was fascinating, and the subtext was powerful. Arguing that God’s purpose for creating marriage was to simulate the longing He intended his children to have for Him, the protagonist didn’t feel as guilty for cheating on her husband as she did for satiating the longing God intended for her to have within her marriage. When faithful within her marriage, she felt a certain hunger to get out of her marriage. Stepping outside of her marriage meant satiating that hunger, and satiating that hunger meant no longer feeling it in her relationship with God. It was fascinating insight, really. I’m glad I read this book.
