Like One of the Family: Conversations from a Domestic's Life, by Alice Childress.

This book reminded me of Thursdays and Every Other Sunday Off except this book was much more colloquial and unbelievable. A fun read, but if I had to choose between the two, I’m going with my girl Vertamae every time.
