Long Island Compromise, by Taffy Brodesser-Akner.
Everything I want to say about this book will spoil the point of each of my realizations for whoever wants to read it and has not yet done so. It is one of my favorite books I’ve ever read, and I will read any and everything its author will put out (I knew this immediately after Fleishman Is In Trouble, but now it’s doubly confirmed). The characters of this one are continuing to stay with me even as I’m finishing my current book, so I’m worried about Vanessa right now but equally worried for Beamer, curious about Nathan’s twins, hopeful that Jenny has figured it out. The message of this one will stay with me ‘cause it’s one I always think about, and I’m just grateful someone as talented as Brodesser-Akner put it in prose, shaped it into a story, and gave it to us to experience with all of our senses. This one is so good, y’all. It is so good.
