A Foot in Each World: Essays and Articles by Leanita McClain, edited by Clarence Page.

I consider this book a collector’s item since it took countless searches to find and more money than usual to secure. Leanita seemed brilliant, and while I’m sad she wasn’t able to learn more, write more, and be more, I completely understand her desire to not want to do any of that. Everything—and I mean everything—she wrote about 40+ years ago has come back full circle, still being argued about today with no resolve in sight, and that is less of an indictment on Leanita’s restriction to imagine a better society than it is proof that our society is in the hands of people who do not view it as worth imagining better for. I could not believe the parallels between her words and what we are living today. It was like she wrote this (beautifully) as a forewarning.
